Week 6 Start/Sit Calls
Five players to start this week, led by Jordan Love and Braelon Allen, and three to bench, including Jalen Hurts. Plus four hurt players to start if they're cleared.
Every week our model ranks each player twice: once for this week alone, and once for the rest of the season. When those two ranks are far apart, that's a start or sit call. A start is a player who ranks much higher this week than he usually does. A sit is a player you might be thinking about starting who doesn't make a 12-team lineup this week.
Rankings are half PPR for a 12-team league, from Thursday morning's update, and they include tonight's Seahawks at Broncos game. Injury news is as of Wednesday's practice reports, so check the live rankings before you lock anything in. They update every day.
Start
Jordan Love, Packers (vs Cowboys). He's QB5 this week and QB13 for the rest of the season, with 18.7 projected points. Green Bay is expected to score about 27.5 points based on the betting total, fourth-most this week, and the model has Love throwing about 33 times.
Kirk Cousins, Raiders (vs Bills). He's QB7 this week and QB25 for the rest of the season, at 17.9 projected points. The Raiders are expected to score about 24 points, and the model has him throwing about 32 times. If you're streaming a quarterback, he's a good one.
Braelon Allen, Jets (at Patriots). He's RB17 this week and RB38 for the rest of the season, at 11.3 projected points. Breece Hall is still week-to-week with his quad injury and the model has him out this week. That leaves Allen with about 15 carries and 3 targets.
Devaughn Vele, Saints (at Giants). He's WR18 this week and WR34 for the rest of the season, at 10.9 projected points. Chris Olave missed Wednesday's practice with an illness, per the official practice report, and the model gives Vele about 8 targets.
Tyler Higbee, Rams (vs Cardinals). He's TE10 this week and TE17 for the rest of the season, at 8.9 projected points on about 6 targets. The Rams are expected to score about 32 points, the most of any team this week. If your tight end is on bye, he's a good fill-in.
Sit
Jalen Hurts, Eagles (vs Panthers). He's QB9 for the rest of the season but only QB15 this week, at 15.5 projected points. The Eagles are expected to score about 19.5 points, tied for seventh-fewest this week. If you have another starter close to him, play that guy.
For the hurt players below, we rank them by what the model expects if they do play. Even then, they don't make a 12-team lineup this week.
Rashee Rice, Chiefs (vs Chargers). He's WR24 for the rest of the season. Andy Reid said his hamstring could take one or two weeks, and he looks unlikely to play. If he does, the model has him at 9.2 points, WR30.
Jeremiyah Love, Cardinals (at Rams). He's RB21 for the rest of the season. He missed Wednesday's practice, and the team's website says he could sit with a lingering ankle injury. If he plays, the model has him at 10.6 points, RB25, just outside a 12-team lineup. Arizona is expected to score about 19.5 points.
Hurt Players to Start If They Play
Four players rank low on the page this week only because they might sit. If they're cleared, start them. If he plays, Caleb Williams (hamstring) is QB4, Chris Olave (illness) is WR7, Quinshon Judkins (ankle) is RB13 and Saquon Barkley (hamstring) is RB17. Barkley is week-to-week, and Judkins and Olave missed Wednesday's practice. Check the final injury reports before kickoff and have a backup ready.
